Summer 2009- where did it go?

Awesome pictures Sis,

I've got none to share.

Our summer in Ellijay has flown by. We watch the sunset over the trees and it keeps shifting further to the south each evening.

Bethany and Robb came up on Thursday. They came back to Georgia for their vacation. We had a great time with them. They brought a DVD of the baby. Kind of cool to see the little heart beat at 168bpm. We are so happy for the two of them.

We went out for dinner Thursday night. Friday, I went with Bethany, Robb and Andrew downtown Ellijay and wandered around. Later in the afternoon, we answered an ad for a welder, so we hopped back into the truck and drove to the other side of the county. This woman had a basement full of tools that she needed to get rid of. I wound up buying the welder, an acetylene torch, a router table, a 10" table saw, a gigantic vise, two trunks full of hand tools, assorted nuts, bolts for $250.00. What a bargain! Now, I have to find space to jam it all. I promised Robb the router when he gets a place big enough to accomodate it along with the torch. Andrew gets the rest. Friday night, we went to the auction, nothing but junk, but you never know what's you might at auction. Saturday, Bethany, Robb, Julie and I hung around the house.

I've torn up the garden for the summer, we picked the last of the cucumbers. Julie canned 12 jars of pickles. I'm going to be putting in a late summer bean crop, both bush and pole. Now that I've learned some of the things I did wrong with the last harvest. ( not enough topsoil, inconsistent watering, planting too close and too many together, really causes small yields). I will make corrections and hope for a better harvest.

We haven't gotten the whole interweb thing figured out so, Melany put the cottage up on Craigslist for us as a rental. The cottage hasn't gotten any bites on it yet. We may consider renting it as a weekend cottage if we can't find a tenant. Andrew is planning on moving in February.

If you're on this blog, don't forget the BBQ last Saturday of September. Always fun and always something different every year. We hope you can come and bring a friend.

Love to all

T3
