More pictures

Here are some more pictures that Mom took while they were with Julie and I.
Mom and Dad at the antique auto show in Jasper, GA. We stopped there Sunday after church, we didn't really have an itinerary planned, it just sort of happened. We found a restaurant in the center of town that was also a hotel, nice old place. Then we walked around the car show for awhile. Mom and Dad took some other pictures around town, but I'll let them post those when they get back to Maine.

The next picture is from Jessica's birthday party BBQ last Saturday. We had a good time, we ended the day with a fire in the pit outside. The picture is the kids playing a game. I guess it is a race track that they snap these button pieces around the track, first one to cross the finish line wins. They were really into it.

The next picture is Ozzie watching the chickens. The dogs have been pretty good with the birds, although they have tried to climb inside the tub with the chickens on occasion.

Then Mike and I are wandering the backyard after the BBQ, trying to burn off a few burgers and dogs.

The last picture is our new chicken house, courtesy of Mom and Dad.  We'll do our best to take care of the place until they return. We had a great time with them while they were here and we miss them already.

Mom and Dad's trip to the land of cotton

We had a great time with Mom and Dad while they were here. They spent the first week with Mike and MaryAnn and their kids. You can tell how excited Mike and MaryAnn are by their expressions.

Then they came to visit Julie and I in Ellijay. While they were here they built a shed for our chickens. The picture at top was one of the rare moments when they weren't a blur.

We finally coaxed them off the ladders long enough on Sunday to go to church and then out for lunch.

We have more pictures, that I " borrowed" from Mom's camera that I will post next.
I found out that this blog has an 8MB max upload.

Pictures from today

Pictures from today, 3/21/09

Yes, this is today..

No global warning in the North country

Happy Spring.. yes, it is spring.. but you would never know it here in our little neck of the woods.
We still have 1.5-2 feet of snow on the ground. The snow bankings have not come down much. The driveway and roads into the neighborhood are covered with 4-6 inches of ice. The ice melts during the day making it like a pond in some areas - not easy for walking. The ponds freeze at night and we still have ice.

Mel and I walked the Akers Pond last weekend to see what the ice fisherman were up to. The ice is still 30 inches deep. You can see where the augers drill down to get to water.. Pretty amazing.

Anyways, not complaining, because at least there are no blackflies. We have come to the realization that the seasons are: Winter, Mud, Blackfly and Fall. There is no spring and summer. I laughed, our pond was frozen enough in November, because we were seeing fox walk across it. It will be almost 5.5 - 6 months of frozen ponds, by the time they melt.

Happy springtime! Love to all
