No global warning in the North country

Happy Spring.. yes, it is spring.. but you would never know it here in our little neck of the woods.
We still have 1.5-2 feet of snow on the ground. The snow bankings have not come down much. The driveway and roads into the neighborhood are covered with 4-6 inches of ice. The ice melts during the day making it like a pond in some areas - not easy for walking. The ponds freeze at night and we still have ice.

Mel and I walked the Akers Pond last weekend to see what the ice fisherman were up to. The ice is still 30 inches deep. You can see where the augers drill down to get to water.. Pretty amazing.

Anyways, not complaining, because at least there are no blackflies. We have come to the realization that the seasons are: Winter, Mud, Blackfly and Fall. There is no spring and summer. I laughed, our pond was frozen enough in November, because we were seeing fox walk across it. It will be almost 5.5 - 6 months of frozen ponds, by the time they melt.

Happy springtime! Love to all
